Extra Login Window Appears after Installing Rockton Product

Issue:
After you install Rockton Software, you are getting prompted with an extra  login window during login. When you launch GP, you get a ‘Login’ window. After you enter the ‘sa’ password, the normal GP login window then displays.

Cause:
This login screen is not coming from a Rockton Software product, but is actually a Microsoft GP window. It is appearing because you may not have a Data Source set up, it is not set up correctly, or there is a conflict with a third party product in GP.

Resolution:

Every computer that runs the Dynamics GP application will need to have an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) data source pointing to the SQL Server. Take a look at the information at the following site:

https://www.vaidy-dyngp.com/2010/06/gp-odbc-dsn-64-bit-systems.html

Note: These links apply to GP 2010, but the information would apply to GP 2013.  Also, Rockton Software does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of the information provided on these websites, or any subsequent links from these websites.

If there is a third party conflict causing the issue, then try moving the Rockton Software product to the First Position in the Dynamics.set file.

  1. Have all Users log out of GP.
  2. Log into GP as ‘sa’ and go to Tools | Setup | Rockton Software product | Rockton Software product Setup.
  3. Click on the Troubleshooting tab
  4. Click on Move to First Position.
  5. Click OK and log out of GP.

Users can now log back into GP.
