At Rockton Software, we believe the best software evolves by listening closely to the people who use it every day. Thanks to your feedback, we’ve been busy building new features into Rockton Pricing Management (RPM)—features that make pricing simpler, more powerful, and easier to manage.
Here’s a quick look at what’s new and what’s coming soon:
Introducing Number Sources: More Ways to Start Your Pricing Logic
At its core, pricing is math—taking a number and applying a set of rules to it. But where that number starts can vary. Maybe it’s list price. Maybe it’s cost. Maybe it’s zero, or even another calculated value.
Previously, RPM offered a fixed list of starting points. Now, we’ve introduced a flexible new concept called Number Sources—which allows you to define any starting number that makes sense for your pricing scenario. For example, you might want to start a calculation with List Price, but if that’s missing, use Cost instead and add 42% margin. Not quite as simple. That’s now possible.
Number Sources are the building blocks for more intelligent and customized pricing strategies.
Data Maps: Simplifying Complex Logic
Complex pricing often involves lots of if-this-then-that scenarios. If the customer belongs to this group, use this price. If the item is in this category, apply that markup. If something’s missing—use a fallback value.
Rather than building countless filters and calculations, RPM now allows you to use Data Maps. Think of a Data Map as a smart lookup list. For example, you can map item quality levels like Good, Better, Best to different margin percentages like 5%, 10%, and 20%.
With one calculation and one data map, you can handle scenarios that used to require three separate Calculations and three separate Filters.
Rebate Programs and Complex Combinations—Made Simple
For industries like food distribution, managing rebates or bill-backs across hundreds of customer-item combinations can become overwhelming. Now, with Data Maps, you can manage these combinations in a single place. Instead of creating 100 separate filters and calculations, you can manage one simple list that maps customer + item + ship-to combinations to rebate percentages.
It’s cleaner. It’s faster. It’s much easier to maintain.
Volume-Based Discounts
Need to apply discounts based on the dollar volume of items purchased? We’ve added that too. Whether it’s 5% off for $1,000 in sales of Items from a specific Category, or 15% off for $10,000+, RPM can now handle tiered discount structures based on purchase totals.
GL Coding Based on Attributes
Accounting and finance teams will love this: RPM now allows you to dynamically assign GL account segments based on customer and item attributes. For example:
– Segment 3 of your GL might vary by Customer Class
– Segment 4 might vary by Item Category
Discounts, rebates, and other transactions can now be booked more precisely based on your own attribute-based logic.
Negate Button on Calculations
Ever imported a list of positive discount percentages only to realize they should have been negative? Now you don’t have to re-import them. We’ve added a Negate button to calculations—one click and all those discounts will be correctly subtracted instead of added.
Sometimes the smallest features save the most time.
Visual Pricing Tree
We’ve added a powerful new Pricing Tree view—a visual diagram that lets you see how all your filters, calculations, and schedules connect. Expand or collapse the view to inspect individual rules or get a high-level overview of your entire pricing process.
It’s the clearest way yet to understand—and debug—your pricing logic.
More Usability and Admin Enhancements
We’ve also delivered a range of helpful enhancements across the board:
– Microsoft Entra ID support and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for more secure logins
– Color-coded toolbar to distinguish multi-company environments
– Better import/export tools for working with data
– Improved test coverage and scenario validation
– New reporting tools to surface insights from pricing and discount logic
These updates reflect your input, your needs, and your real-world use cases. We’re proud of what we’ve built—and more excited than ever about what’s coming next.
