RPM – How to setup a level of price complexity where x% can be added as a blanket increase on top of the percentage listed in an existing Price Sheet.

Subject

Suppose there is an existing Price Sheet that increases prices by some percent.
The customer would like to add another level where they could apply an additional percentage price increase that is easily adjustable—
for example, an adjustment to account for varying commodity prices.

Resolution

  1. Create a new Price Calculation:
    1. Name it something that makes sense to you.
    2. You would likely want to check the box to Modify Unit Price.
    3. Select the Price Mode Option for how you want this to calculate.
The assumption is a Percent Adjustment, but the RPM Help file has detailed explanation of the available types.
    4. Enter the amount for the adjustment. If you would like it to be a discount, make sure the amount is negative.
    5. If you would like to round the amount of this calculation, apply a rounding rule.
    6. If you would like to track this adjustment, mark that box.
You can select the GL credit and debit accounts you want to track to, but these fields are not required.
    7. Save the Calculation.
  2. On your existing Price Schedule that you wish to change, add this new Calculation:
    1. Order for the Calculations does matter.
    2. If you put this new calculation at rank 2, it will calculate the % using the price after the previous adjustment.
    3. If you would like this calculation to start with the item cost instead of the item cost + other adjustments,
return to the Calculation setup and mark the box for ‘From Base Starting Price’.
  3. Save the changes and run test scenarios to ensure this is working as anticipated.
