How to force users to change their password on next login

The steps here will describe how to force users to reset their password on their next login.

Resolution:

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Ensure the Password Policy Expiration option is set to 1 or higher.
    1. Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | Dynamics GP Toolbox | System Settings.
    2. Double click Password Policy Options.
    3. Verify Enable Password Policy is marked.
    4. Double click Expiration.
    5. Verify Expiration is set to 1 day(s) or higher.
    6. Click Actions, and then click OK.
    7. Click OK.
  2. If Password Policy Options was setup already, go to step 4. If it wasn’t, go to step 3.
  3. Log out of Dynamics GP and then log back into Dynamics GP as an Administrator or POWERUSER.
  4. Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | System | User.
  5. In the User Setup window, click Additional, and then click one of the following options:
    1. Click Force user to change password to force the specific user to change their password on their next login, and then click Yes to the message, “Do you want to force the user to change their password on next login?”
    2. Click Force all to change password to force all users to change their password on their next login, and then click Yes to the message, “Do you want to force all users to change their passwords on next login?”.
  6. Have the user(s) log into Microsoft Dynamics GP.
  7. When prompted to change the password, change the password, and then click OK.
  8. In the User Preferences window, click OK.
