Overview of the GP2016 feature for Exporting and Importing user created SmartLists.
More Information
A new feature was added in GP2016 to allow user created SmartLists to be exported and/or imported.
The export creates a file with an XML format that can then be shared to other GP users/installs.
The import takes that XML file and brings it into GP, creating a new SmartList object from the file.
Note: The Export/Import is only for user created objects. Default objects or Favorites created from default objects cannot be exported/imported.
How To Export
- In the SmartList window, click the Export/Import button and select Export to open the Export List window
- Product ID: Select the product, such as Microsoft Dynamics GP – which ever product the user created Object resides under
- Available SmartList IDs: This will show objects available to be exported
- Select the desired object and click Insert
- This puts the object in the Selected SmartList IDs section
- File Name: Specify the file name and path for the XML file that will be created
- Once the object is selected and the file name and path are specified, click Export
- A message of ‘The selected list(s) have been exported successfully’ will appear
How to Import
- In the SmartList window, click the Export/Import button and select Import to open the Import List window
- User ID: Shows the user ID performing the import
- Import SmartList: Specify or browse to the XML file to be imported
- Once the file and path name have been specified, click Import
- A message of ‘The selected list(s) have been imported successfully’ will appear
