february celebrating

Here at Rockton we like to celebrate all things, big and small, that bring joy to our lives. We thought it would be fun to share our February celebrations with you and hopefully spread the joy around! Here are a few things the Rockton family celebrated this month.

Celebrating Jenn’s 17 years at Rockton!

“Where to even begin with how I appreciate Jenn. She has so many qualities I admire, but I want to make a special point of appreciating her kindness and her heart. She genuinely cares for each of us, not just as co-workers, but as people, and she pushes us to be better humans. She sees the strength and ability in everyone. Jenn was one of the first people I really connected with. She and I have shared more laughs together than I can remember and I truly couldn’t be happier to have met her. She also has pretty good taste in music… though she might over play a song here or there.”

Celebrating Mike’s 10 years at Rockton!

“I really appreciate working with Mike. He always has a smile on his face and is very pleasant. He is such a positive person and is always willing to jump in and help. He is creative, has the best sense of humor, and is passionate about life and his animals.”

I am grateful for getting to spend Valentines Day with my mom this year in person. It doesn’t get much sweeter than dinner, some chocolate cupcakes and seeing a movie together!

Most years my favorite thing to celebrate during February is the Super Bowl. Despite the chiefs being in it yet again, I love the food culture around it. From wings, to sliders, to nachos and chili, it is just fun to have the nation celebrate eating poorly. And I think we need to really work on making the day after the super bowl a national holiday.

But this year is different, because we get a leap day! A whole extra day of the year to celebrate! So I’m going to be celebrating our once every 4 years holiday! I think it’s a good remember to carpe diem as we have a whole 24 hours that we didn’t have the last 3 years.

As Phil Dunphy would say, it’s leap day, not sleep day!

Shawn

We celebrated Summit’s 2nd Birthday in February. He is an amazing dog and an integral source of joy for our family!

February seems to be the one month each year I can plan on going skiing with the family. Colorado is awesome for snow!

February is always the time of year when I get an itch for spring arriving soon. The garden gets cleaned up, and I drool and daydream over plant catalogs. I love seeing the swelling of the leaf buds on my trees and shrubs – always a good indication that spring is around the corner!
