Auditor New Features, Part 3: Additional Conditional Auditing Options

Mar 8, 2016

Auditor has the ability to audit changes only when a certain condition is met.  This feature is called Conditional Auditing.

When setting up an audit definition, there is an Options button () available for each field that you are auditing, and for the tracking of Adds and Deletes, in the case of Table and SQL Table audits.  Clicking the Options button will open the Field Options window.  In the lower-right corner of this window, you will see the Conditional Auditing options.  If you leave Use Conditional Auditing unmarked, the audit you have set up will always take place.  However, if you check this box, then you will be able to enter criteria for when to enable this audit.

In older versions of Auditor, you were only able to choose “Is Equal To” and “Is Not Equal To” for the Operator field.  As of January 1, 2016, as long as you have build 2013.7, 2013 R2.1008, or 2015.4 installed, you will have several new conditional operators available to choose:

• Is Greater Than
• Is Not Greater Than
• Is Less Than
• Is Not Less Than
• Contains
• Does Not Contain
• Begins With

We hope that these new operators will open up new possibilities to satisfy your Auditors’ needs!
